Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Assaults Emergency Paramedic (Posted May 28, 2009)

While the majority of Police Officers are very professional and deserving of respect, their bad apples are out of control. All across the country, cops are attacking people for not responding quickly enough to commands or because of some perceived challenge to their thuggish authority. Insane and violent cops have been caught repeatedly on video assaulting, tasering, and even murdering non-violent citizens. In a recent incident, a Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper was caught on tape assaulting a paramedic and interfering with a patient being taken to the hospital.

Once Considered Unthinkable, U.S. Sales Tax Gets Fresh Look (Posted May 27, 2009)

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/26/AR2009052602909_pf.html

At a White House conference earlier this year on the government's budget problems, a roomful of tax experts pleaded with Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner to consider a VAT. A recent flurry of books and papers on the subject is attracting genuine, if furtive, interest in Congress. And last month, after wrestling with the White House over the massive deficits projected under Obama's policies, the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee declared that a VAT should be part of the debate.

Automatic Licenses Plate Recognition Cameras (Posted May 26, 2009)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/whos_watching_you/8064333.stm

A national network of cameras and computers automatically logging car number plates will be in place within months, the BBC has learned. John Catt found himself on the wrong side of the ANPR system. He regularly attends anti-war demonstrations outside a factory in Brighton, his home town. It was at one of these protests that Sussex police put a "marker" on his car. That meant he was added to a "hotlist".

You may not know it, but if you have a wireless router, a cordless phone, remote car-door opener, baby monitor, or cell phone in your house, the FCC claims the right to enter your home without a warrant at any time of the day or night in order to inspect it.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/19/house-investigate-extremism-report/

Democrats on a key House panel joined Republicans in a unanimous vote calling for a formal inquiry into the Homeland Security Department to determine how a contentious report that described military veterans as possible recruits for radical extremists was developed and distributed.

Bill in Congress would ban Gun Ownership at Will (Posted May 18, 2009)

http://www.prisonplanet.com/bill-in-congress-would-ban-gun-ownership-at-will.html

No Fly, No Buy Act (HR 2401). In 2007, according to the Inspector General of the FBI-administered Terrorist Screening Center, there were well over 700,000 names on the no-fly database and the list was growing at an astronomical rate of 20,000 records per month. That means the list now contains more than a million people. Senator Ted Kennedy, Rep. John Lewis, and former Senator Ted Steven’s wife, Catherine Stevens are on the list.

According to Rahm Emanuel, now Obama’s Chief of Staff, every last one of them are terrorists who will have their Second Amendment right to own a firearm stripped.

Veteran investigative journalist Jim Tucker has uncovered Bilderberg’s 2009 agenda, which includes the plan for a global department of health, a global treasury and a shortened depression rather than a longer economic downturn.

We used to go camping and fishing in boy scouts when I was a kid, not urban warfare drills. I wonder if this is what they have planned for the GIVE Act also?

GOP probes 'extremism' report's origins (Posted May 8, 2009)

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/07/gop-seeks-explanation-of-extremism-report/

The request asks Ms. Napolitano to release information on how the report was compiled. The report sparked a furor from conservatives included in the definition of "right-wing extremism" and prompted Ms. Napolitano to apologize to the nation's veterans.

Further analysis of the document has indicated that it was created by the DHS in 2007, under the authority of the Bush/Cheney administration, a fact that undermines any opportunity for political point scoring on behalf of the GOP.

National Level Exercise 2009 (NLE 09) (Posted May 7, 2009)

National Level Exercise 2009 (NLE 09) is scheduled for July 27 through July 31, 2009. NLE 09 will be the first major exercise conducted by the United States government that will focus exclusively on terrorism prevention and protection, as opposed to incident response and recovery.

NLE 09 will be an operations-based exercise to include: activities taking place at command posts, emergency operation centers, intelligence centers and potential field locations to include federal headquarters facilities in the Washington D.C. area, and in federal, regional, state, tribal, local and private sector facilities in FEMA Region VI, which includes the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Bill Would Declare Your Blog a Weapon (Posted May 5, 2009)

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.1966:

"Law prof Eugene Volokh blogs about a US House of Representatives bill proposed by Rep. Linda T. Sanchez and 14 others that could make it a federal felony to use your blog, social media like MySpace and Facebook, or any other Web media 'to cause substantial emotional distress through "severe, repeated, and hostile" speech.' Rep. Sanchez and colleagues want to make it easier to prosecute any objectionable speech through a breathtakingly broad bill that would criminalize a wide range of speech protected by the First Amendment. The bill is called The Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act, and if passed into law (and if it survives constitutional challenge) it looks almost certain to be misused."

Who is David Cid? We all know about the MIAC and other reports. Now it sounds like we have a local organization who wants to violate the 4th amendment if they don’t like how you think. This group is training our law enforcement that people who support the Constitution are extremists. We are not the enemy and this insanity has to stop.

Inter-American Convention against the Illicit Manufacturing and Trafficking in Firearms (Posted May 2, 2009)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9X2VbhSH9o

On April 16, 2009, President Obama emerged from a meeting with Mexico’s President Calderón to announce his support for the “Inter-American Convention against the Illicit Manufacturing and Trafficking in Firearms” treaty (CIFTA): an international gun control treaty signed by President Bill Clinton in 1997 but never ratified by the U.S. Senate.

Unlike Clinton, Obama has no plans to let the treaty languish without ratification. Thus he promised to push the treaty through the Senate quickly as a means of curtailing the border violence and arms trafficking in Mexico’s current drug wars. Yet the text of CIFTA indicates that the treaty would do very little to curtail violence in Mexico, unless creating a national gun registry in the United States is something that will cut crime south of the border.

For example, the preamble of the treaty describes “the urgent need for all states, and especially those states that produce, export, and import arms, to take the necessary measures to prevent, combat, and eradicate the illicit manufacturing of and trafficking in firearms.” To accomplish this, the preamble calls for the “exchange of information” and “effective control of firearms [and] ammunition” between nations that sign treaty.

The “exchange of information” implies that our government would not simply have a gun registry that is nationally accessible, but internationally accessible as well.

U.S. Authorities Pledge Flu Vaccine for Everyone - by Fall (Posted May 1, 2009)

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,518578,00.html

U.S. authorities are pledging to eventually produce enough swine flu vaccine for everyone but the shots won’t begin until fall at the earliest. Scientists are racing to prepare the key ingredient to make a vaccine against the never-before-seen flu strain — if it’s ultimately needed.
